For its different brands TUI Nederland publishes 100 different titles of travel catalogues a year. TUI Nederland belongs to TUI Travel PLC, an international leisure travel group.

For Jos Roozenbeek, responsible for designing publishing and printing processes, to produce this volume of travel catalogues every year, is more than a daily challenge.

Shorter time-to-market

His goal is to shorten the time-to-market and to organize automated processes, so that product managers can be involved in the production lifecycle.

“We have integrated InDesign server and our planning system in the Switch environment,” says Jos Roozenbeek, “we route predefined InDesign documents to a certain project, generate the information, certify the PDF document and redirect it to the several printing houses.”

Involving people

“This way, we can involve product managers, who are not technical, but commercial people. We involve them in the entire production process, for generating their products.”

Reaping the benefits

“Switch is a key factor in the production of travel catalogues,” he says. “It’s easy to program Switch to fit into a very specific environment, so that different processes can work together. The production of travel catalogues is our main goal, but we plan to integrate other processes as well, such as the in-house production of travel information booklets for our customers.”

“Automation is based on certain industry standards, which has the benefit that you can combine different processes within one environment. The advantage of Crossroads is that you can submit your problem to several people and discuss the different components with the vendors. In this, Crossroads will lead us to new solutions.”
