The production process of weekly or monthly retail catalogues is a demanding one. It involves a lot of images going in and out. Switch controls these image workflows. The photographers name the image very precisely and Switch decides what’s going to happen to that image. Should it be manipulated manually? Should it be send out to one of the outsourcing companies? The routing from one place to another is efficiently done via file naming or XMP-data. Adobe Acrobat, PitStop Server, Photoshop, nVerge for images in the house and Claro for automated image handling support this image workflow. “It’s easy to handle, it is easy to go to Switch and actually make something that can change your workflow. I think that’s very important.“ says Lars Ørhøj, Director of Productions at envision. “You don’t have to set out a developer to change it. You sit down together with two or three people to decide on what you want to do and start building up to a dedicated workflow, efficiently. That’s really the main benefit.”

Binding people together

“Another important benefit is that we can bind people together,” Lars Ørhøj continues, “especially the people we work with, like photographers, printing houses or outsourcing operations. They can actually work together.”

Networking

Lars Ørhøj adds: “I like the idea of Crossroads. Before Crossroads, you had to do your own networking and establish your connections with other Switch users or consultants who could build things for you. Now we have a common platform where people can actually meet, a great benefit for all.”
