De Telefoongids BV is the leading search company in the Netherlands. The Telefoongids publishes around 8 million telephone guides a year, distributed in 45 regions by private persons as well as companies. Next to the book, De Telefoongids can also be consulted online, per phone and mobile phone, routeplanners and Google Earth. About 700 people work mainly in the headoffice in Amsterdam and in the offices in Zwolle, Drachten, Capelle aan den IJssel and Eindhoven.

Scaling cost effiency
Abdes Nadi is Senior System Engineer at De Telefoongids. “The main purpose of automation is cost efficiency,” he says, “by automating repetitive tasks like creating PDFs for the press, or JPEGs for internet, DVD and printed guides, we need half the people for the same tasks, which frees up time and money for other work. We integrate Switch with Adobe Suite, Acrobat of course, and PitStop Server.”

Staying in control
Before Switch, De Telefoongids used a scripted automation tool, but it didn’t really meet the requirements. “We had been looking around on the automation market for a year,” Abdes Nadi explains, “before we came to Switch.” The big advantage is the ease of use and the overview we get. At one glance, we see if something went wrong and where, and we have a view of all the ins and outs.”

Looking to the future
De Telefoongids plans to extend the use of Switch to other applications. “We have about 300 sales people who send us their graphical files”, says Abdes Nadi. “We are currently researching the possibility to send and collect e-mails and to upload files to an ftp-server.”
